Incentives for the cruise industry towards more energy-efficient shipping are usually driven by a combination of financial, regulatory compliance and image or brand. So far, the financial dimensions have played a larger role, however, the IMO’s energy efficiency regulations and the prospects for future marine market-based instruments such as CO<span class=”sub”>2</span> trading or fuel levy, will further drive the industry towards a greener agenda.
