Plimsoll Mark

The plimsoll mark, also known as the plimsoll line, is a mark, or series of marks, along the outside of a ship. The plimsoll mark shows where the water level should be when the ship is fully loaded. The plimsoll line is a safety feature introduced to prevent ships being overloaded and sinking.
