Carol Marlow joined P&O Princess Cruises (now Carnival UK) in 1997 as MD of the Swan Hellenic brand. She spent two years in charge of sales and marketing for P&O Cruises.

As UK director, she doubled the size of Princess Cruises in the UK. In July 2004, Marlow became Cunard Line's director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa before being appointed president and managing director with Cunard in November 2005.
