Maurizio Cergol is the senior chief designer responsible for cruise vessels, basic design activities and cost estimations for Fincantieri. He joined Fincantieri in 1982, starting his career in the basic design department of the company's headquarters in Trieste, where he worked with the design teams of several ship styles including containers, ro-ro, pax ferries and tankers. In 1986, he was promoted to chief designer and began working on cruise vessels, participating in the design of Costa Classica and Romantica. Since then, he has been the responsible senior naval architect for developing, designing and contracting a total of 30 cruiseships.
For Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, a 'whole package' approach to design is crucial for its cruise vessel success.
