US Virgin Islands Department of Tourism - The Virgin Islands - America's Caribbean

Magnificent tropical environments with a rich history, vibrant culture and endless exciting activities ensure an unforgettable experience for anyone who visits the United States Virgin Islands, either during a cruise vacation or for a land-based stay.

Although all offer picturesque scenery and exciting attractions, the three principal islands - St. Croix, St. John, and St. Thomas – are each distinguished by their own unique personality.

ST. CROIX - EMERALD WATERS AND POWDERY SANDS

St. Croix, characterized by its cultural diversity, is the largest of the three islands and lies entirely in the Caribbean Sea. Pastel buildings and charming shops can be seen in the historic towns of Christiansted and Frederiksted, while the island's emerald waters, powdery sands and rolling green hillsides remain just as Columbus first viewed them in 1493.

ST. JOHN - WORLD-RENOWNED BEACHES AND PROTECTED NATIONAL PARK

Two-thirds of St. John, the smallest of the three islands, enjoys designation as a protected US national park with 9,500 acres of hilly, lush landscape and an underwater reserve. St. John's world-renowned beaches, including Trunk Bay, Cinnamon Bay, and Maho Bay, are frequently recognized as the best in the Caribbean.

ST. THOMAS - SOPHISTICATED DINING AND SHOPPING

The liveliest of the US Virgin Islands is dynamic St. Thomas, which offers sophisticated dining and tempting duty-free shopping. Charlotte Amalie is a bustling harbor town full of character, fine restaurants, a one-of-a kind array of shops and historic monuments. St. Thomas's picturesque Magens Bay has been voted one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES AND ADVENTURE

Fun and adventure are abundant due to the United States Virgin Islands' endless choice of activities including tennis, golf, horseback riding, kayaking, biking, hiking and sport fishing. Numerous water sports also are available on each island including scuba diving, snorkeling, sailing, windsurfing, parasailing and 'snuba' – a unique sport that combines snorkeling and scuba diving.

ENVIRONMENTALLY SENSITIVE TO LUXURY ACCOMMODATION

A vast choice of accommodation is available to international visitors on all three islands, ranging from scenic, environmentally sensitive campsites to luxurious resorts, private houses, villas and condominiums available for lease.
