Karlskrona - Historic Baltic Cruise Destination

Karlskrona, which has been on UNESCO’s World Heritage list since 1998, is a living history book with well preserved locations from the town’s naval history, a modern IT town and one of the Baltic's most appealing cruise destinations.

An international outlook and three centuries of solid technical knowledge are the driving forces behind Karlskrona's progress. Exciting experiences are offered alongside the warmest hospitality, and from the moment you arrive there are enjoyable discoveries to be made.

There is more to see and do in Karlskrona than ever before, yet you can still experience the same timeless, unspoiled beauty of the historic town, its countryside and the archipelago. You are sure to discover why we are fast becoming a favourite with tourists.

PORT OF KARLSKRONA

A visit to the charming town of Karlskrona is an exciting encounter with Sweden’s proud navy traditions. Nowhere else is the naval history more present than in this port, that has been home of the Royal Swedish Navy since the 17th Century.

The presence of the navy has given the town its distinctive architectural qualities. It is the town's unique layout with roots in the baroque and the well-preserved dockyards dating back from the 17th and 18th century that have placed Karlskrona on UNESCO’s prestigious World Heritage list. The dockyards are one of the few remaining docks in the world specially designed for the construction of sailing warships.

Despite its militant past, Karlskrona is a quiet and peaceful town with lots of opportunities for relaxing and enjoying the scenery - on land or from boat trip in the beautiful skerries.

KARLSKRONA CRUISE DESTINATION

Spend a day in the best little cruise port in Sweden, away from congestion, crowds and irritation. Baroque grandeur, stately churches, esplanades and a flourishing little city encouraging people to be outdoors. The area is nicknamed 'The Garden of Sweden' and a rich nature is evident everywhere.

In Karlskrona your ship docks in the middle of the city, within walking distance of the major attractions and the city centre. The anchorage for the larger cruise ships is located in the midst of the historical naval area of the city, with a few minutes transfer for the tenders.

Karlskrona is proud of its heritage, but is also a modern city with prosperous industry, home of major telecom companies and high-tech developers. We look forward to welcome you to Karlskrona and promise that we will do our best to make your stay interesting and memorable.

COAST AND ARCHIPELAGO

Islands that were previously subject to military restrictions are waiting for you to explore them. Proper cultivation thrives on Hasslö, Aspö, Tjurkö and Sturkö, where you can enjoy strawberries, fish specialities and delicious potatoes. The Skärgårdstrafiken boat service departs from Fisktorget.

It is easy to find your own cove on the small islands in the east. Birdwatchers flock to the peninsula of Torhamns udde. The picturesque, historical and entertaining village of Kristianopel is well worth a visit.
