Trans-Ocean Photos - Cruiseship Photography - Photo Kiosks and Embarkation Photographs

Trans-Ocean Photos cruiseship photographic company is constantly investing in ideas, training and technology to ensure every cruise passenger has the ideal memento from their trip of a lifetime.

CRUISESHIP PHOTOGRAPHY

Trans-Ocean Photos has been active in the cruise ship photography business for over 60 years. The company was established in 1946, when founder Bob Harrow came up with the idea of using his photographic expertise to capture memorable moments for the passengers aboard a cruiseship where he was working as a barber at the time. This service proved popular with passengers, the company was a success and he has not looked back since.

NEXT GENERATION CRUISE PHOTOGRAPHY

Although the mainstay of the business is still cruise photography, the company, which is a well-diversified photographic operation, has branched out into special events, amusement parks, resorts and attraction photography. This means that wherever there are customers who would like a special moment captured they will find a Trans-Ocean Photos professional to fulfil their wish. The company is a concessionaire that, in most cases, provides technology and in-house staff for turnkey operations - Trans-Ocean Photos oversees everything to maintain the quality standards that customers and cruise passengers have come to expect.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY - TECHNOLOGICAL INVESTMENT

Having taken full advantage of the digital revolution in photography, Trans-Ocean Photos is the only fully digital company in the marketplace. On board the ship, the use of digital mini-labs and dye sublimation printing means no film and few waste chemicals, plus the ability to manipulate images easily to satisfy customer requirements. "We have the highest reinvestment in the continuing education of staff, equipment, R&D and software," says Lee Moore, vice president of new business initiatives. "We have completely retooled with digital equipment in the last 12 months."

WIRELESS TRANSFER - PHOTOS TO INTERACTIVE TELEVISION

Trans-Ocean's own software system means that it can make full use of wireless technology, the internet and market after-sales. The company operative can take embarkation photos of guests and these images can be transferred wirelessly to interactive televisions as they enter their cabin, or even straight to printing.

FACIAL RECOGNITION TECHNOLOGY

Additionally, the company is currently testing facial recognition technology that will make it even easier for guests to select their required images as cruises and photo galleries get bigger.

CRUISE PHOTO KIOSKS

Photo kiosks can also be provided so that guests can use their own digital cameras and make prints or a CD on board to take home. Jeff Harrow says, "We offer a full array of services on board, providing the professional side as well as the fun stuff. This allows us to be more creative and add more products concerned with guest satisfaction, which is our number one priority. We want to extend the vacation experience after the guest has left the ship by making it easy to order pictures online or send the images by email to relatives."

PORTRAITS AND EMBARKATION PHOTOGRAPHS

Two of Trans-Ocean’s bestselling products are portraits and embarkation photographs, but they have a range of products including multiple montages, event and excursion shots using media such as canvas, crystal, jewellery, tiles or even providing the images on CD/DVD if required. Rob Harrow believes that: ‘Sometimes, cruises are the only time families get dressed up and this is a perfect opportunity to get family portraits.’

ADDED VALUE

Trans-Ocean believes in forming a partnership with the cruise lines it operates on, so they can help by being an extension of the cruise line marketing department as a way to promote cruises and encourage passengers to return next year. "We can be an extension of the cruise marketing department to create added value, and this is one of our core focuses," says Rob Harrow. ‘Our service to the cruise industry is all about taking an operation and customising it to suit its requirements.’

Trans-Ocean is dedicated to investment in people and training, new technology, guest experience and satisfaction, and providing added value to the cruise experience.
